Although not a preservative, Tocopheryl acetate plays a very important part in blends, especially those that contain essential oil as the natural antioxidant properties stop peroxides from forming in your essential oil blends (whether they be in creams, lotions, oils or gels) .

Peroxides can be harmful to the skin as well as making your product rancid. By adding Tocopheryl acetate you ensure the freshness and quality of your blends in addition to adding antoxidant properties to your final skincare product.

How to use use Tocopherol acetate

Tocopheryl acetate is a robust antioxidant, resistant to heat and thus makes it suitable for hot-blending into products without diminishing its efficacy.

We recommend normal usage level of around 0.2% to stop oxidisation of essential oils, though higher levels can be used to provide anti-oxidant and free-radical scavenging properties to your finished products.
