Learn to make Gels, Creams, Lotions
and Foaming Products from Raw Ingredients.

Learn all the techniques you need to make beautiful cosmetic products

Making many toiletry products is based around a few techniques that are used universally in the industry. From learning a few of these it is possible to create a wide range of products. Similar concepts are use to create most cream products, so once the technique is learned a whole range of different types of products can be formulated.

The idea of this course is not to provide a 'ready to go' list of formulas for starting a business but to teach the basic fundamentals of the individual products. This will allow you to go away and formulate a unique range of products using the information learned on the course.

The cosmetic information you will cover on the course

Basic Science of Emulsions
Choosing a preservative
Cream based products (3 different types)
Detergent products (washing)
Exfoliating products
Carbomer based Skin Gel
Basic product development ideas and testing
Carrier Oil & Essential Oil basics

Whilst we can't discuss every available ingredient on the market the course should give attendees a grounding in how different types of ingredient work. This allows them to apply those skills to their own formulating using different ingredients, for the same or similar purpose.

There is time during the making process dedicated to talking about the use of each individual ingredient in the product and how they can be replaced or the quantity modified. We look at each individual ingredient and detail their origins and uses.

We teach you to use Raw Ingredients, not Pre-mixed blends

We do not use pre-mixed emulsifiers to formulate products, as we feel this doesn't allow enough freedom to create a unique product. These type of mixed ingredients lead to formulating similar products to other producers. They are often much more expensive that buying individual ingredients and they will lead to a supplier reliance, that is not healthy for business. We will teach you to use each individual ingredient, and to understand what each one is. From that information you can purchase from numerous different suppliers.

The last afternoon of the course is spent with each attendee formulating their own moisture cream with some guidance. This is a great, fun way to end the course and very informative. It allows each person to consider their own aims and work with the ingredients used in the previous products to produce their own.

The course discusses the concepts of natural products, the use of preservatives and the use of essential oils and carrier oils in products. However this is not an aromatherapy course and there is no teaching of the effects/legal uses of essential oils.

You Take Home

You will receive a full set of notes to compliment the course including the formulations for each product made. You also take away everything you make. We do not make products in groups, there is enough equipment for everyone to make their own products and these can be taken away from the course.

Attendees usually end up with around 3kg in total of product to take away.

You will receive a certificate of attendance.

We do not directly teach basic mathematics skills (weighing, percentages etc.) however we have a section on our website dedicated to these skills and would advise if attending a course you read these to give your maths skills a little polish.

We do not cover soap or make-up production on this course, please see the itinerary for products made.

We quickly get into the practical work.

    5 Stars isn't enough

Posted by Sharon on 11th Nov 2021

Thank you, Tom and Dan, for such a lovely course. I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 days at the course and was sad when it finished. I could have stayed all month! A friendly atmosphere, lots of fun with other course members and we have kept in touch with one another after the course. We had so much attention and so unlimited amounts of resources to use. It was a far contrast to courses I have been on with aromantic. The food was lovely as well, and I enjoyed seeing what you are doing at your farm. This is an absolutely brilliant course; I look forward to you adding more courses as I will be back. Love, Sharon

I attended the course in November and really enjoyed my time. Tom and Dan made the course so much fun and so information. I learnt far more than I was ever expecting. I have spent Christmas playing at home with ingredients and are now ready to launch my own products. The location of the course was lovely and the building a really wonderful space to learn. Thank you to Dan so much and for a tour around the farm on the Quad bike, it really made my day. Good luck everyone at Naturallythinking and thank you so much again for a wonderful course
