Tea tree is a remarkable essential oil that is known for it's antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. A natural astringent to refine skin pores

Tea Tree Essential Oil

Thriving in marshy areas in Australia, this small tree is similar to Cypress. Tea Tree is one of the most useful essential oils and is a must for all enthusiasts and therapists. We only use 100% pure Australia Tea Tree, from Australia as this is the finest quality Tea Tree.

Characteristics of Tea Tree Essential Oil

Tea Tree oil is distilled from Melaleuca alternifolia, a small tree that can grow to about 7 m (20 ft) with a bushy crown and whitish, papery bark. The leaves are arranged alternately, sometimes scattered or whorled. The leaves are smooth, soft, linear in shape, 10–35 mm (0.4–1 in) long and 1 mm (0.04 in) wide. Fresh, sanitary and long-lasting, slightly manly.

Common Uses of Tea Tree Essential Oil

Tea Tree Oil Properties

Tea Tree Oil is one of the most widely used essential oils in aromatherapy. One of the critical components of Tea Tree Oil is terpinene-4-ol, which has been shown in studies (click here for link) to kill certain bacteria, viruses and fungi. In addition, other studies (click here for link) have shown that Terpinen-4-ol can increase the activity of white blood cells, helping to fight germs and foreign invaders.

These properties give Tea Tree its reputation for dealing with fungal and bacterial problems.

Skin

Because of the antifungal and antibacterial properties of Tea Tree, it is helpful for use on problem skin such as Teenage and acne-prone skin. Studies (link) have found Tea Tree Oil kills several common bacteria, these bacteria include E.coli, S.pneumoniae and H. influenzae.

The effectiveness of Tea Tree with acne prone skin was shown in a variety of studies (link 1, link 2, link 3). One study showed that a 5% Tea Tree Gel was nearly 6X more effective at reducing lesions than a placebo (link). Compared to benzoyl peroxide, one of the most common acne medications, another study (link) showed Tea Tree to be as effective.

In another study (link), it was shown that adding Tea Tree Oil to a cleanser boosted the cleanser's effectiveness against E.Coli.

Tea Tree works as a natural deodorant, with the antibacterial properties helping to clear underarm perspiration.

In addition to the significant properties above, Tea Tree Oil has been shown to help with nail fungus and skin inflammation, control dandruff, and treat athletes' feet.
