Canarium luzonicum is a large evergreen tree growing to a maximum height of about 30 m (100 ft). The leaves are alternate and are pinnate.
Typically growing in the Philippines, when the tree sprouts its yellow leaves, the natural resin is emitted from the tree which dries hard on contact with the air. This oleoresin from the tree is known as Elemi. When the leaves fall, the resin stops.
Elemi oil is a relative of Frankincense and Myrrh.
