Does Basil Speed up Hair Growth?

We all want luscious, long locks. And while there are a million different products on the market that claim to promote hair growth, they can be expensive, and some of them even have nasty side effects.

...But what if we told you that there was a cheap, all-natural solution that might just do the trick? Enter basil. Yep, that's right. The same herb you throw in your spaghetti sauce could also hold the key to rapid hair growth.

Let's take a closer look at the science behind this claim.

Basil is packed with nutrients like vitamins A and C, iron, and calcium that are essential for healthy hair growth. One study even found that basil extract was effective in treating hair loss, encouraging hair growth when included as part of a diet. But before you go chowing down on a plate of pesto, it's important to note that more research needs to be done to determine whether or not basil is truely effective in promoting hair growth.

That said, there's no harm in trying out this home remedy to see if it works for you. Simply add a few drops of basil essential oil to your shampoo or conditioner, or massage it into your scalp before shampooing.

You can also make your own basil-infused oil by mixing 10 drops of basil oil with ½ cup of carrier oil like jojoba or grapeseed oil.

Store the mixture in a dark glass bottle and use it as you would any other hair oil.

While the jury is still out on whether or not basil can speed up hair growth, it certainly can't hurt to try out this inexpensive home remedy. Have you ever used basil for hair growth? Share your experience in the comments below!
